Rapid Response Saves Cape Girardeau Home from AC Unit Fire

Quick Action and Expert Care: How MRC Restoration’s Jackson Team Helped a Cape Girardeau Family Recover from an AC Unit Fire

Recently, a Cape Girardeau family experienced a frightening situation when their air conditioning unit malfunctioned and caught fire, spreading to the master bedroom and affecting other parts of their home. The quick thinking of the fire department and MRC Restoration’s Jackson office played a vital role in minimizing the damage and restoring safety to the family’s home.

Once the fire department arrived, they acted swiftly to contain the fire, deploying water to extinguish the flames. Fortunately, their rapid response limited the spread of the fire, leaving only moderate damage. However, as with most fire emergencies, the water used to put out the fire presented its own set of challenges.

As soon as we were called, our team was on-site immediately, ready to provide critical services. Our Jackson office performed emergency boarding to secure the property, ensuring that no further damage could occur due to exposure. After securing the structure, we began water mitigation to remove the excess moisture caused by the firefighting efforts.

Water mitigation is one of the most important steps after a fire event, as excess water can seep into materials and cause long-term structural issues, including mold growth. By removing the water quickly, we were able to protect the integrity of the home and prevent further complications down the road.

Thanks to the fast response from both the fire department and MRC Restoration’s Jackson team, the family’s home sustained minimal structural damage, and the restoration process is already underway. We are proud to help our local communities in Cape Girardeau and beyond, restoring homes and peace of mind after such traumatic events.

Mold growth in commercial spaces can be a silent yet serious issue, affecting both the health of those who work in the space and the building’s overall condition. MRC Restoration recently completed a mold inspection at a local accounting office, uncovering some concerning results that had gone unnoticed by the building owner. The inspection revealed a hidden mold problem that might be contributing to the health issues experienced by office workers. The Mold Issue: What MRC Restoration Found During our inspection, MRC Restoration identified significant mold growth in several hidden areas of the building, including behind walls and in poorly ventilated storage spaces. Mold thrives in damp, dark conditions, and without proper air circulation and regular inspections, it can become a serious problem. In this particular case, the mold was not visible on surfaces, which is why the building owner was unaware of its presence. However, office workers had been experiencing persistent symptoms such as coughing, headaches, and irritation—common signs of exposure to mold spores.
